These Terms of Use ("Terms") apply between you as a user ("you" or "the user") and Gastrona Group AB, organisationsnummer 559447-0089, Box 2656, 116 74 Stockholm, Sweden ("we", "us" or "Gastrona") regarding the use of our mobile application, website (gastrona.app) and related services ("the Service").
By downloading, installing, registering for or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Related rules for community behavior and moderation are in our Community Guidelines and Content Moderation Policy.
1. License and usage rights
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for private, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms. You may not use the Service for commercial purposes without our prior written permission. You are responsible for your devices, internet connection and related costs.
2. Age ratings, account eligibility and access
Read this together with gastrona.app/age-suitability.
- App store age rating: Apple App Store, Google Play and similar platforms may display an age rating (for example 18+) based on alcohol-related content. That rating is a platform classification and does not mean everyone who can download the app may register for an account.
- Account eligibility: Registration and account-based features require that you are 25 years or older. During registration you must confirm that you meet this requirement. We may refuse or terminate access if we reasonably believe the requirement is not met.
- Limited use without an account: Some parts of the Service may be viewable before registration. If you are not eligible for an account, you must not use account-based features or attempt to register.
- Account-based features include, among others, activity logging, follows, feed, comments, Toasts, direct messages and public or followers-visible profiles.
3. User account and security
- Registration and authentication Certain features require an account. You must provide accurate information and authenticate via SMS, Google, Apple or Facebook as offered.
- Security You are responsible for protecting your login credentials and for activity on your account. Contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorized use.
- Age confirmation You must be 25 or older to create an account and must confirm this during registration. Providing false information is a breach of these Terms.
4. Subscriptions, payment and fees
- Freemium model Core community features (such as logging, following, feed, Toasts and commenting, as offered) are intended to be available without a paid subscription. Premium unlocks additional utility depth (for example richer AI assistance, expanded match lists, recipe variants, certain location features or analytics), as shown in the app and stores at the time of purchase.
- Subscription models Paid plans may include monthly and annual subscriptions. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled in advance via your app store account.
- Free trial New users may be offered a free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, you may be charged according to the plan you selected.
- Payment processing Payments are processed by Apple, Google and/or RevenueCat. We do not receive your full payment card details. Platform terms also apply.
- Price changes We may change prices. Where required we will inform you in advance; you may cancel before a change takes effect according to store rules.
5. User restrictions
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for illegal, fraudulent or abusive purposes
- Publish or distribute content that violates our Community Guidelines (including hate, harassment, sexual content involving minors, graphic violence, self-harm glorification, or pro-eating-disorder material)
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation with people or brands
- Post photos of children without the legal right to do so
- Copy, distribute, modify, reverse-engineer or misuse the app’s code or proprietary content except as allowed by law
- Disrupt the Service or other users’ experience, including spam, scraping at abusive scale, or circumventing security or moderation
- Attempt unauthorized access to systems, accounts or data
6. Intellectual property
The Service’s software, design, branding, curated catalogs, pairing logic, recommendations and other materials we create or license belong to Gastrona Group AB or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited license above, no rights are granted. Gastrona trademarks and logos may not be used without permission. Third-party names, trademarks and logos may appear for identification or convenience. That does not mean affiliation, endorsement or sponsorship. Gastrona does not sell alcohol. User-uploaded content is governed by the user content license in these Terms and by our Community Guidelines.
7. User content license
If you submit or upload content (including activities, photos, video, captions, comments, messages, profile information and feedback), you retain ownership of your content where applicable, but you grant Gastrona Group AB a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for formatting/transcoding), display, distribute and otherwise use that content as needed to operate, improve, moderate and promote the Service, including showing it to other users according to the visibility settings you choose (private, followers or public). This license continues for a reasonable period after deletion as needed for backups, legal compliance and moderation retention described in our Privacy Policy and Content Moderation Policy. You represent that you have all rights needed to grant this license and that your content does not infringe others’ rights or break the law.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. Pairing suggestions, recipes, AI outputs (including Sophia) and user-generated content are for information and inspiration only — they are not professional medical, nutritional or legal advice, and they do not guarantee taste outcomes. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim or (b) EUR 50. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
10. Termination and suspension
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, our Community Guidelines, or if we reasonably believe there is misuse, legal risk or harm to others. You may stop using the Service and delete your account as described at gastrona.app/delete-account. Deleting your Gastrona account or uninstalling the app does not cancel an active app-store subscription; cancel that separately in Apple App Store or Google Play settings.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms. We will revise the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, provide notice via the app, email or website. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms, except where mandatory law requires a different process.
12. In-app content and optional marketing communications
- In-app product content Wine and food pairing recommendations, educational information and related features are part of the Service for eligible account holders.
- Optional marketing communications Where permitted by law, we may send promotional communications about wine and alcoholic products via push, email or other channels. Such communications are separate from core functionality, directed only to users 25 or older, and only where appropriate consent or settings apply.
- Your choices Manage notification and communication preferences in the app or by contacting hello@gastrona.app. Where consent is required, withdrawing it does not remove access to core pairing features, subject to applicable law.
13. Applicable law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by Swedish law. Disputes should first be addressed by contacting us. If unresolved, disputes are decided by Swedish courts, with Stockholm District Court as the first instance, without prejudice to mandatory consumer venue or protection rules that may apply where you live.
14. Force majeure
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including war, natural disasters, epidemics, major infrastructure failures, labor disputes or changes in law.
15. Assignment
You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
16. Severability
If any provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. The invalid provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable while preserving its intent.
17. Waiver
Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by us to be effective.
18. App Store terms
The Service is available via Apple App Store and Google Play. Your use is also subject to those platforms’ terms. If these Terms conflict with platform terms, the platform terms prevail to the extent required by the platform.
19. Updates and maintenance
- App updates We may update the Service for functionality, security or experience. Some updates may be required to continue use.
- Maintenance We may perform planned or unplanned maintenance. We try to notify for planned downtime when reasonable.
- Versions Older app versions may stop being supported. Please keep the app updated.
20. Technical requirements
Using the Service typically requires:
- A compatible phone or tablet (supported iOS/Android versions as stated in the store listing)
- An internet connection
- Sufficient free storage
- Optional: camera access for wine label or menu scanning features
21. User feedback and bug reports
We welcome feedback and bug reports via:
- In-app feedback features
- Email to hello@gastrona.app
- App store review or reporting channels
Feedback may be used to improve the Service without obligation to compensate you.
22. Alcohol legislation and responsible communication
Gastrona follows applicable alcohol rules and responsible communication principles, including Swedish alcohol marketing rules where relevant:
- Account-based access and wine-related marketing are directed only to persons 25 or older
- In-app content focuses on pairing utility and factual, educational information rather than encouraging excessive consumption
- We do not sell alcohol or facilitate alcohol purchases through the Service
- We do not provide alcohol-related information where prohibited
- Availability of the Service or content may vary by country
23. Community features and moderation
When you use social or community features:
- You are responsible for content you create, including activities, photos, video, comments and messages
- Visibility settings (private / followers / public) control who can see activities; public profiles are opt-in; entity comments may be visible to other users
- Direct messages use a Message Requests model for people you do not follow; you may block, mute and report
- We may remove, limit visibility of, or restrict content or accounts that violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines, as described in our Content Moderation Policy (including appeals where applicable)
- We are not responsible for other users’ content; report concerns to trust@gastrona.app or via in-app reporting
